Today is Divine Mercy Sunday, and it is a very special day indeed! Jesus grants to us on this special day an extraordinary grace that He revealed through St. Faustina Kowalska, a young, uneducated Polish nun who received prophetic revelations of Jesus in the 1930's.
On this special day, we have an extraordinary opportunity to receive special graces of God's Divine Mercy, promising not only the forgiveness of our sins but also removing the punishment for them - it's a grace that is overwhelming in its importance! And we can do this, even though we all continue to live under the limitations of social distancing. With the intention of turning from the sin in our lives and seeking Confession and Communion as soon as we are able, we should say an honest Act of Contrition, make a spiritual communion, and say a special prayer (like the Chaplet of Divine Mercy or another prayer like it) - and you will receive this special grace. You can watch a short video by Fr. Chris Alar of the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy to describe these requirements here.
We are all sinners and we are all carrying our own crosses right now. But Jesus died to grant this mercy to us and give us the chance to be with Him one day in Paradise. Let us reach out to Him today and ask His Divine Mercy to rush over us and make us whole again. Jesus, I trust in You.
